SUMMER! 追赶跑 (studentcamp '08)

YES! i'm back my dearies, from the annual, fun-filled, gospel camp!

I'd just like to say that the camp,
being my very last,
was not as fun as those in the previous years...
But, even though there were only 7 of us in SQUASH,
we had a ton of fun!
Making new friends, seeking the truth,
chiong-ing, 追-ing, 赶-ing & 跑-ing!
I'll not run through everything that happened,
but u'll prob know it when the pics r out =)

The 6 NP gals joined (cos others were not free...) -- Rachel, Sheena, Wenxin, Jolene, Wanling n I. We were utterly surprised however when we found out that 7 of the NP Sec2s were joining us. Even more shocked when we found out they quit, n stunned when we knew MENG YEE was joining us. HAHA, a load of surprises huh.

Group Leader was MinHui jie, assistant leader was YuTinn jie. =) they rocked the camp!!

DAY1 : basically settling in, realising our houses (SPARTANS!) our groups (SQUASH) our bunkmates & new faces & lastly singing our hearts out. U see, i was having a mouthful of ulcers. n singing... wasn't a pleasant thing to do, but it did with all my heart n soul =D Ice-breakers was uber fun (thanks to sheena piggy-backing me) n we won a GOLD star for the games. We made frens with BOWLING cos we kept borrowing their penknife n kept lending them "our" glue while making our COOL SQUASH medal.

@ night, we had night games (basically station games in the form of record breaking). This is where some of us began to get bored... sorry if we did not include some people in this >.< I made frens with this Sec3 SJAB guy.. Philip i think, hahha, he's super STEADY when pouring stuff. lol. N i lost to many xiao di dis playing scissors paper stone. ='(

But the highlight of the night was when we attempted to do KUNGFU. 28 positions n we only remembered 10? we went into the room where Mr Yeow was. N gave it our all (including some... never-before-seen actions) HAHAHA, dun tell me u didnt laugh like siao after seeing it. XD bcos of our enthusiasm n sportsmanship we got ou SECOND GOLD STAR!

DAY 2 : of cos, a BIG dose of praise & wroship, followed by QT n BS. After lunch, we were briefed abt our next GAMES--Selection. There were basically 5 stations. N each grp had to complete each station before moving to the next. if it we could not do the task in ONE try, we would have to go back to the prev. station and so on. Initially i was SOOOO =( cos we KEPT going back n forth between stations 0 and 1. grr. n later on i found out sth worse happened. Females are just damn suay la can? Following my little "break" i went to look for the goup...n YAY! they moved on to 3rd station liao! =D i helped them to the fourth. N thats where we got worried. Water-war game next: we had to "protect" a crepe paper attached to rachel from tearing bcos of water. But we only had 7 ppl whereas other groups had 14? like... omg right? SO... we played it survivor style =p alliancing with BOWLING(fellow spartans)! who in turn roped in Water Polo (the SJAB sec3s) to gang up against 3 other non-SPARTANS. In the end all 3 of the SPARTAN goups came out victorious ^^. Final station was pretty easy n YES, that meant our THIRD GOLD star =D

The skit on the CHIONG family was pretty funny (tho there were many "HA?"s cos the ppl were a tad bit soft. We saw the gao3 xiao4 side of Jing yu jie (the camp OIC) during the skit which relli chged my perspective of her =)

DAY 3 : okay. super uber boring day... Pastor Jim came again today.(made me rethink about my career in psychology) But it was such an inactive day that i didnt even need to bathe. (nv perspire one bit) He talked to us about the 5 love langauges, and i did a test to find out that my top was Quality Time. I didn't expect it tho, and it's not 100% accurate... haha.

He also made us trace out our bodies n draw what we wanted ppl to know about us.. Lastly he touched on communication (not new to me) but i believe its true about how the content of ur words only contribute to 7% of the entire conversation. We then built a tower out of straws, satay sticks n newspapers + everything we had on oursleves. Most ppl used the walls n string above as support, but basically he was trying to illustrate that we COULD communicate non-verbally.

we all dreaded this (at least sheena, rach n i did) the guys always won no matter what... cos they were just simply, the funnier sex. haha. BUT anyhow, we persevered to find our storyline (adapted from PANADOL advie) and tried not to make cold jokes. We injected as much fun as possible, n tho my part was small, i'd say it was the MOST successful skit i ever took part in X) haha, we got into the finals with a sec1 group (to much surprise cos bowling relli deserved it too) n we managed to win every other group (except Mr Chua's as usual) to clinch our FOURTH gold star by getting 2nd place that night =D

DAY 4: THE LONGEST, MOST TIRING day. [[early]] in the morning 9AM. we chionged out of school to places i'd never been to b4.. Tampines first where we cracked our heads & went bonkers over a word-search. like omg...the main trouble wasnt the running up to 10th floor 4 times... but instead, the FRIGGIN word search. in the end the station master let us off without finishing the thingy. we proceeded to KALLANG stadium next, where we did a bit of a counting thing followed by some down-the-steps bowling. Lunch @ subway was next... SUPER refreshing booster =)

We totally disregarded the search for our teddy bear... regretting later on... but bo bian la.

Orchard was next. n i kinda lost my cool abit. sorry! >< color="#ff6666">kisses from ppl. lol, we had to redo 3 stations cos of a small boo-boo which made me pretty angry. But i was fine later on... maybe it was e heat n the running...

Back to tampines again where Wanling n i went up to rayseen's aunt's house to find ONE difference from a picture given earlier... we did it twice only n helped water polo too =) thanks to wanling's sharp eyes, we beat a few groups who were there longer than we were. =D

A bigger boo-boo lay ahead. Sheena led us to take a bus from the wrong side of the road... n water polo also followed =( we thus trailed all the way back to tanah merah station. FINAL BATTLE:: running up fr. tanah merah MRT.

when i finally ran up the church-hill, there were SO many ppl alr there. n bowling kept cheering for us ;) motivation to carry on =) we then had help from them to arrange the pics of those MEN they gave us at each station. 13th position =(
that probably set us back from clinching the top group @ SUMMER! 追赶跑! but i was OUTRAGEOUSLY happy for SPARTANS when i found out that the top 3 goups were all SPARTANS =) first handball, then bowling then baseball =)

Later they announced the winning groups for the 3 houses (titans, olympians & SPARTANS-SQUASH!) overall winning group- BOWLING (congrats once again =) ) n winning house... *drum rolls* SPARTANS!!!!!!

CAMPFIRE, mass dancing, BBQing was probably the best ending to a camp =) the fire was cool, mass dance with rachel as my "man" just made me perspire like _______. ran round n round in circles; open open close close; left n left, right n right; TWIST wooo~~ hhhahahaha, gosh, enjoyed it to the max =D

BBQ took awhile to set up so we ate our roast ducky first. n drank our pepsi =D heh, being victorious takes some getting used to. =p we joined football (our bunk-mates) n helped them with their food. had lotsa food (n my ulcer didnt hurt!) we couldnt finish our food so.. .we went ard donating them. But most of it ended up at BOWLING. hahahaha. "we should have joined with Squash laa, then we got more food to eat. lols"

Sheena felt bored after a while.. so she decided to SCAM ppl. with diluted pepsi... after much "help" from wanling X) she took me instead as partner in crime n our first target -- Qin Hui. hehehe, he took a big gulp n wanted to spit it back out. we tried to stop him la... but to no avail. pooiii back into the cup. Sheena was fuming... haha, she made him choose another target. -- YiJun. =p he drank lor. n swallowed with minimal reaction. Then he "convinced" weien to drink it too.... HAHAHHA, blur blur, also drank. (@ this point of time.. we told them Qin Hui's saliva was inside XD) funny la, but after that, no one wanted to drink le. hee...

Lights out @ 4am when i called stef who apparently woke up to go to the toilet =)

DAY 5 : nth much really. just a reminder that my last student camp just ended... n that i would be feeling kong1 xu1. =(

Adwin answered 2 out of three correctly thus we had to eat wasabi coated buns.

E-Learning Day's completely screwed, and a waste of my time. Another one of the SMART projects the stupid school came up with.


1)The system OBVIOUSLY cannot work with 400 students online. It will CRASH, something that the school apparently OVERLOOKED

2)Thanks to that, we've been camping in front of the com pressing "f5" repeatedly, but to no avail. Excuse me, i had BREAKFAST && LUNCH in front of this very screen. How healthy.

3)Its... 4.18pm now, N i've just ONLY completed 2 assignments. One da4 gang1 for a chinese compo (reasonable) and the electrolysis WS (we were supposed to go thru an entire PPT--60 slides long, and 4 websites related to electrolysis. Chemistry was only 2 periods, this "E-assignment" took me 2+hours).

4) The system seems to be fine now. Oh! English hw. Let's see. AN ENTIRE situational COMPOSITION. kill me. Our english period was meant to be 35 mins. Best la, I've yet to start.

5) Some emaths questions that i haven't even read thru

6) Bio:: learn ONE chapter ON YOUR OWN, followed by a WS. wee! yes, how fun eh?

7) Word's spreading round that we've GOT to hand up all these BY 11.55pm tonight. HAHA. joke eh? the SCHOOL is IMPLYING that THEY want US to SIT in FRONT of THE computer FOR a TOTAL of FIFTEEN hours.

The next day (NP day) all the sec4s did the MOST we could do. Wear the collar pin. (woots! ._.)
We came early, checking on our juniors and then sat down in front of the cohort before the stage :) A bit of minor screw-ups, not for me to pin-point, but it went pretty OK.

***** apparently read our surveys... cos the very next moment she digressed from current affairs to NP & UGs.
Like how she wasn't "neglecting" us, or she DID give us acknowledgment when it was due.

How we're all VERY important no matter wad CCA we came from,
how we should be PROUD that we are the COE for sports.

But lemme say this... Does this give her the right to b biased? How is a fourth position in a national shooting competition any worse than a fourth in position for say, a sports' B girls E-Zone competition.
Is there a reason why she appears at almost every basketball game, but never once took time to get to know the non-sports CCA better.
Hmm, wad abt yearbook photos. Flip to the CCAs portion. Do u see her face? Yea, duh. On most of the Sports' pages.

So u tell me. Bias? huh. I bet a Sec1 Lit student would say yes.
Don't get me wrong, its not the Sports' students fault. Let's just say... it was a LAPSE. or some species of NEGLECT.
